Starting tomorrow, Friday at 12:01 a.m. through midnight on Sunday, there will be no sales tax charged on certain back-to-school purchases including clothing, school supplies, computer and computer software. (you don't have to be in school to take advantage of this!)The tax-free purchases that qualify include:
Clothing – Any article having a taxable value of $100 or less.
School Supplies – Not to exceed $50 per purchase
Computer Software – Taxable value of $350 or less
Personal Computers – Not to exceed $3,500
Computer Peripheral Devices – Not to exceed $3,500

There are NO limits on the amount you can purchase tax free and NO limits at a single retailer. However....if you are in the KC area, be careful because some of the surrounding communities such as North Kansas City, Claycomo, Platte City, Platte Woods, Oak Grove, and Smithville do not participate.
